If more parks will like this one we would all spend more time at the park with our kids. Hands down this is my favorite park to take my daughters to.

The play area is large, modern, well maintained, and filled with unique interactive elements including jump points on the ground which trigger sounds. The devil is in the details though and Athens Down delivers with rubberized ground, good shade on both the play structure and surrounding area, and even a handicap swing.

Leaving the play structure Athens Down does not depart from its well-conceived nature. From multiple large fields, to volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, and even room to ride a bike or skate there is practically something for everyone.

It is possible to reserve a time for a party event but you will still want to get there early, have your paperwork, and be prepared to tell someone who may try to set up in your spot that they have to move; because it isn't clearly marked as reserved.
